Vote.org, a non-partisan and non-profit platform encouraging election participation, received a massive spike in voter registrations last Tuesday. The group attributed the 35,252 newly registered voters to pop star Taylor Swift who posted an instagram story that day urging her fans to register. According to representatives from vote.org, the site saw a 1,226% increase in participation the hour after Ms. Swift posted the story to her instagram account. Early voting for Virginia’s consequential 2023 election began Friday September 22nd, with every seat in the state’s senate and house of delegates up for grabs. The state of Oregon and New York City’s pension fund have sued Fox Corporation alleging Fox harmed investors by allowing Fox News to air falsehoods regarding the 2020 election that exposed the network to defamation lawsuits. Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum claims Fox violated its fiduciary duties by disregarding legal risks; New York City Comptroller Brad Lander echoed Rosenblum’s statement adding that Fox’s board of directors blatantly disregarded the need for journalistic standards and failed to put safeguards in place.  Visit The Oregonian to learn

In a 22-11 vote entirely along party lines, Republicans in Wisconsin voted to remove Meagan Wolfe, a non-partisan administrator of the state’s elections commission. The vote led to a lawsuit from Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul who claims the Senate lacks the authority to remove Wolfe.
