Microsoft researchers claim to have found what they believe to be a network of fraudulent Chinese-controlled social media accounts attempting to influence US voters using artificial intelligence. While researchers have not specified which social media platforms were affected, screenshots within their report show posts that appear to be on Facebook and Twitter. Over a dozen people in multiple states have been charged with threatening election workers by a Justice Department unit trying to curb the violent and graphic threats against individuals who count and secure the vote. Secretaries of state and experts have warned that government employees are being threatened at higher rates, even during normally quiet periods in between elections.
