Election workers have gotten death threats and warnings they will be lynched, the US government says

Over a dozen people in multiple states have been charged with threatening election workers by a Justice Department unit trying to curb the violent and graphic threats against individuals who count and secure the vote. Secretaries of state and experts have warned that government employees are being threatened at higher rates, even during normally quiet periods in between elections. Experts worry this trend could also increase dramatically leading into 2024 and want the federal government to bolster their efforts to protect election officials.
