In response to a worrying shortage of election workers for this year’s upcoming midterms, an alliance of civic organizations and major businesses are relaunching their “Power the Polls” program, first implemented to recruit election workers in 2020. Power the Polls was co-founded and remains backed by major corporations such as Amazon, Microsoft, Starbucks, and Old Navy. Supply-chain issues, an increase in violent threats to poll workers, and a tight labor market are among the many factors threatening to close down polling places around the

The razor-thin Pennsylvania recount between GOP Senate hopefuls Mehmet Oz and Dave McCormick has been further complicated by an ongoing legal dispute that began with the 2020 election: whether mail-in ballots can be counted if a voter has neglected to enter the date of their signature. Currently, Dr. Mehmet Oz leads his opponent for the Republican Senate nomination by less than 1,000 votes, and the legitimacy of approximately 860 mail-in ballots remains in dispute because they lack a hand-written date. The painstaking manual recounts by local election workers, undertaken with bipartisan supervision, may delay an announcement of results until they must be certified on June 13th. While Oregon has successfully employed an all mail-in ballot system

Americans for Public Trust, a right-leaning watchdog group, has filed suit against the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for failing to investigate whether Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss’s political donations violated a US law against campaign contributions from foreign nationals. Wyss’s philanthropic organizations maintain that his donations have been directed exclusively towards political causes and their advocates, not to candidates or political action committees. Americans for Public Trust is challenging this distinction in its lawsuit.             Visit The Daily Mail to learn moreImage Credit: Oceana(CC BY 3.0)
