Voters in Ohio reject GOP-backed proposal that would have made it tougher to protect abortion rights

Had the measure passed, Issue 1 would have switched the threshold for passing a constitutional amendment from a simple majority to a 60% supermajority. This special election may have major consequences in the near future, with a fall campaign in which  voters will decide whether or not to enshrine abortion rights into the Ohio state constitution.
