Governor Katie Hobbs recently vetoed two Republican-backed bills that would have criminalized homelessness and ranked choice voting. Senate Bill 1413 would have forced city officials to take down homeless encampments and charge people living in them with criminal trespassing and Senate Bill 1265 would have outlawed the use of ranked-choice voting throughout Arizona, even though it currently does not exist anywhere in the state. Youtube has decided to stop removing content that falsely claims the 2020 election or other U.S. presidential elections were fraudulent or marred with “fraud, errors, or glitches.” The decision is a major reversal for the google owned video service, which began a policy of removing new posts that falsely claimed widespread voter fraud or errors changed the outcome one month after the last presidential election. New Mexico grand jury charges ex-GOP candidate with election interference in shootings at lawmakers’ homes
A former Republican political candidate, Solomon Peña, has been indicted on federal charges of election interference with additional conspiracy and weapons related charges. Peña and two accomplices allegedly committed a series of drive-by shootings at the homes of four Democratic officials, including the current state House speaker, in December of 2022. Thankfully no one was injured in the shootings, but in one case bullets did sail through the bedroom of a state senator’s 10-year-old daughter. RNC will require debate participants to support eventual nominee
The Republican National Committee is considering adding a second night to the first presidential primary debates occurring this August in Milwaukee. The first debate is scheduled for August 23rd with a potential second date of August 24th if enough candidates meet the the polling criteria, fundraising criteria, commit to supporting the eventual Republican nominee, and pledge not to participate in any outside debates.
