Georgia seeks dismissal of Fair Fight voting rights case

Defense attorneys have called for a federal judge to dismiss a voting rights case brought against the state of Georgia. The call for dismissal followed the conclusion of testimony brought forth by the plaintiffs, who are working on behalf of “Fair Fight Action,” the organization founded by Stacey Abrams. Defense Attorney Josh Belinfante told the court that the plaintiffs “…tried to find people, but they actually can’t find anyone who had an issue in the election…” Witnesses brought forward by Fair Fight’s lawyers claimed they experienced unnecessary hardships when trying to vote because of state laws that either made it too difficult to register to vote, or too easy to become unregistered, or too easily allowed the state to cancel absentee ballots. Unless the U.S. District Judge Steve Jones agrees to throw out every charge, the defense will be required to begin its case next week and a verdict will be expected this summer.
