This week in politics: Louisiana redistricting case in court again- and more
The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments last week in a case regarding the redrawing of Louisiana’s congressional map. The case centers around the issue of representation within the state; when Louisiana redrew its six-district map in 2022, it included only one district in which the majority of residents were black, while about a third of the state’s residents as a whole are black. Voting rights advocates hope the case will end by creating a second majority-Black district in Louisiana.
