Unlike 2016, when a group of delegates attempted a last-ditch effort to prevent Donald Trump from securing the Republican Party’s presidential nomination, RNC leaders don’t expect any opposition to Trump at this summer’s convention in Milwaukee. Trump’s allies have spent years solidifying RNC rules and processes, and after Trump’s victories in Iowa and New Hampshire Republican officials claim the potential for any convention upheaval is almost nonexistent.
