Rep. George Santos survives vote to expel him from Congress

Representative George Santos, the New York Republican who admitted to lying about his background and has now been indicted on federal fraud charges, survived a bipartisan effort to expel him from the House of Representatives. The expulsion resolution was led by Santos’ fellow New York Republicans, but after a vote of 179 in favor of expulsion, 213 against, and 19 voting present Santos will remain in office for the time being.
