Justices to consider whether Arizona’s voting rules discriminate against minorities

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments on two voting rights-related cases originating in Arizona. The first concerns an Arizona law which requires that an entire ballot be thrown out if it is cast at the wrong precinct, while the second concerns an Arizona law banning “ballot harvesting,” the practice of third parties collecting and submitting ballots. The Court’s decisions in these cases could have nationwide impact on how voting rights laws are evaluated in the future.
