Poll of Local Election Officials Finds Safety Fears for Colleagues — and Themselves

After receiving completed surveys from nearly 600 local election officials across the country, the Brennan Center for Justice reports that about 20% of these officials believe it unlikely that they will still be in their current positions by the 2024 elections. One third of those who expect to leave soon reported politically-motivated attacks, harassment, and false accusations as their number one reason. Additionally, 54% of those polled said they were concerned for the safety of their colleagues.
